Country Chic Cottage Miniature House

My Country Chic Cottage is my current 2015 winter project.

I have taken many photos of this project, just ask if you would like to see how to make anything you see.

I have built it from scratch, from drawing up plans, building it and making it all work. The house itself is made of 7mm plywood, screwed and glued together. The exterior cladding I made from ripped up and cut up egg cartons to look like stone, glued onto the ply. The roof tiles are made of heavy duty sandpaper, cut to look like roofing tiles and glued on. The front opens up with two doors using piano hinges, also the roof lifts up with a piano hinge.

Windows are made with different sized popsicle sticks, cut to size and glued together, very tricky job but have made 11 windows with a shutter on each side also made from popsicle sticks. My front door was eventually made from popsicle sticks as well. Dowel was used to hold up veranda.

The climbing rose took many hours to make, punching out leaves, twisting wires and then adding flowers and covering with florist tape, then gluing on the leaves... It looks as real as I can get it.

The topiary at the front door are green pom poms glued to a stick and planted in blind acorns, painted. Not sure if they look real enough, so will look further for some landscaping materials. The delphiniums and miniature artificial flowers in air dried clay pots.

The interior is under construction...
